On a beautiful summer evening, The Train Station Concerts stepped outside for the first time, and Tough Old Bird gave us the perfect soundtrack. With the historic Orchard Park Depot as the backdrop and an appreciative crowd gathered under the open sky, the Buffalo-based band brought their rich harmonies, thoughtful songwriting, and expansive sound to our first outdoor concert. The evening felt both intimate and wide open, a celebration of live music, community, and the magic that happens when talented musicians and a special place come together.

The Performance
Set List: Wednesday's Child | Shape of Our Love | Map/Reason | Come Back, Come Back
Writing credits: Nathan Corrigan, Matthew Corrigan, Ricky Bechard and Brendan O’Shea
The Interview
For a deeper look at the people and story behind the performance, check out our full interview with Tough Old Bird, where brothers Nathan and Matthew Corrigan talk about a decade of playing together, the genre "recipe" behind their sound, and the fresh chapter marked by their new single "Wednesday's Child."
The Artists

Tough Old Bird was formed by songwriting brothers Matthew and Nathan Corrigan in a remote corner of rural Western New York. The brothers grew up surrounded by music, in a tiny house in the woods that was heated by woodstove and insulated with stacks of paperback books.
After releasing their first full-length album, 'Gambling Days' in 2016, Tough Old Bird spent years on the road as an acoustic duo, releasing multiple albums and EPs before expanding to its current four-piece lineup, with Brendan O’Shea on bass and Ricky Bechard on drums.
Currently based in Buffalo, NY, the scope of the band’s sound has widened to encompass modern folk music and indie rock, influenced as much by 90s alternative and 60s roots-rock as by traditional folk music and classic country.

A Multidisciplinary Art Adventure Featuring the Photography of John Harrigan
This episode features the photography of John Harrigan whose work perfectly captured the feel of the music and nostalgia of this concert.

John Harrigan’s photography is directly influenced from his career as an award-winning filmmaker. This is evident in the cinematic nature of his photographs. John often works within a series where he can focus on a particular tone and aesthetic that relates to a central theme. His current image work follows three different modes: abstract landscapes, set pieces, and travel. These modes use a variety of stylistic techniques such as ambient light manipulation, focal length alterations, and different processing methods.
